With or without you
I really can’t understand celebrities. Now they want to get married, to start a family and five seconds later they want a divorce, they want to be single again and available to flirt.
Let’s see some celebrities that got married and soon after filed for divorce.
1920’s: Rudolph Valentino & Jean Acker
He was a young Italian actor and was known as a “Latin Lover“. He was a true icon of the 1020’s and was famous for his roles in mute films such as The Sheik and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Before he died at only 31 he got to marry Jean Acker, an actress that was famous for her lesbian escapades. She married Valentino after she was caught in a three lesbian relation. Their marriage lasted for about 6-7 hours and Valentino didn’t got to make love to his new wife because she locked him out of the honeymoon suite. After the divorce Jean used the name Mrs. Valentino many years although legally she didn’t have the right.

1950’s: Elizabeth Taylor & Conrad Nicky Hilton
She was young and dumb, she just turned … 18. Elisabeth, one of my favorite actresses was married for a short time to American socialite Nicky Hilton, grandfather of Paris and Nicky Hilton. Their marriage lasted from 6 May 1950 until January 29 1951. I guess the reason for their divorce was the fact that both of the were young and didn’t know what a marriage means. Elisabeth later married 6 times and Nicky only once because he died at age 41 of a heart attack.
1960’s: Ernest Borgnine & Ethel Merman
He’s an actor and she was a singer. Their marriage lasted barely a month. They got married in June 1964 and split in July the same year. This marriage wasn’t a first for the both of them but they said it won’t last. Well I guess the need for adventure was more powerful than love.
1970’s: Dennis Hopper & Michelle Phillips
Dennis Hopper was married 5 times but he’s second marriage lasted only 9 days. He married Michelle Phillips- singer, songwriter and actress. I don’t know what was on their mind when they married but it sure wasn’t love!
Janet Jackson & James DeBarge
Janet was only 18 when she secretly married singing group member DeBarge, James DeBarge. Joe Jackson disapproved the marriage and about a year later they got divorced. The two eloped in 1984 and divorced in March 1985. From their marriage a daughter resulted. She’s in her 20’s right now, her name is Renee and Janet has kept the secret of her flower-child even today.
Mike Tyson and Robin Givens. My god I wonder how could she bear the torture. I can’t imagine a worst husband than Mike Tyson. I don’t like boxers or wrestlers. Anyway, she reportedly said he’s behaving like a maniac. To cut it short : their marriage was a failure and a torture for the poor lady. They were married from February 1988 untill February 1989.
1990’s: In the 90’s many celebrities got married for a short period of time. Here are some of them:
Shannen Doherty & Ashley Hamilton
The two were married for a few months and they were kids when this happened. Ashley stated that
“It was one of those crazy, young, pissed things you do, and it lasted a matter of months. Other people do that kind of thing as well, but when you grow up in the spotlight everyone knows about it. Shannon and I haven’t been in touch for years. I don’t see her around at all. To be honest, she scares me, and she scared me a bit when we were married as well. I’m close to all my exes. But not Shannon.“
Oh well, teenagers!
Another short marriage was Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman’s. She was hot, he was a famous basketball player and they decided they were soul mates. The decision lasted from 1998 ’till 1999, when they got divorced. Still I think they looked horrible as a couple. She’s pretty and he’s ugly!
Helen Hunt and Hank Azaria were married from 1999 untill 2000. I guess they were not soul mates?! No children resulted from the marriage but Helen did gave birth to a baby daughter in 2004 resulted from her relation to Matthew Carnahan
Dumbo Jim Carrey married Lauren Holly, his co-star in Dumb and Dumber. The couple lasted from 1996 untill 1997. Well I guess they were just dumb and dumber as a couple!
The shortest marriage of the 1990’s was Drew Barrymore’s with Welsh bartender Jeremy Thomas. The two were married from March 20 until April 28 1994. I guess she didn’t like the martini Jeremy made!
2000’s: Oh, well. Let’s just say that lawyers had the greatest benefits after celebrity breakups.
Nicholas Cage is a great actor, one of my favorites. Still can’t understand what was he thinking when he married Lisa Marie Presley and then split after just 4 months. The two married in August 2002 and split in December 2002.
Liza Minelli and David Gest. Another funny couple. After the honeymoon was over the two started to reveal some dirt about each other. Liza was accused of beating David off and Gest was accused of being a drug addict. Aren’t they lovely? The marriage lasted from 2002 ’till 2003.
Ali Landry and Mario López : The two married in April 2004 and two weeks after they annulled their wedding. It seems that Latino Mario was being unfaithful.
Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney. The two met in January, got married in May and announced the divorce in September and the marriage was over until December 2005. It seems that Renee was unhappy because she wanted to redecorate the house and Kenny didn’t.
Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock. The two lasted as a married couple for about 4 months, from July 2006 until November the same year. Not wanting to age alone, Pammy got married in October 2007 to Rick Salomon to which she is now divorcing after only 4 months.

The shortest marriage of the 2000’s was definitely Britney’s with Jason Alexander. The singer got married to high school sweetheart Jason in The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on January 3rd 2004. After just 55 hours the marriage was annulled stating that Britney :
“…lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to marriage because before entering into the marriage the Plaintiff and Defendant did not know each others’ likes and dislikes, each others’ desires to have or not have children, and each other’s desires as to State of residency.“
What on Earth were they thinking when they said “I do”?!
