Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
Hey guys! How are you? Hope you’re not to stressed out with all the negative stuff that’s going on in this world. I know I’ve been too stressed out but I’ve found a good way to relax: reading.
A friend of mine, a huge Twilight fan, gave me the book. I didn’t know what was it about, I’ve never heard of it before and I was like “OK, let’s give it a try!”.
I have to say I loved the book. Then I started to look for the other books. Because in Romania not all the books are translated, I’ve read the last two, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, in English.
Stephenie Meyer, thank you for you writing techniques. It’s so easy to read your work, although English is not my first language.
So, Twilight is about Bella and Edward, about their relationship. It’s about the vampire’s lust for her blood and for her love, and Bella’s craving for his affection. Twilight tells the story of two teenagers (well, even though he’s more than 100 years old he’s still trapped in a teenager body!), an innocent love story, a sweet childish story. I guess that nowadays not many girls get to feel that kind of love. A passionate thing but so innocent. It reminded me of my adolescence, of the times when you felt butterflies in your stomach when the person you liked looked at you.
New Moon is about Bella and her struggle to get over her pain when Edward leaves because he loves her too much. He’s afraid she will be hurt if he is going to stick around. Bella tries to recover herself, to make her pain go away and she becomes addicted to Jacob, her werewolf friend who loves her very much. In the end, Edward thinks Bella jumped over a cliff to kill herself because of him and the vampire goes to Italy, where the Volturi clan live to convince them into killing him. Bella and Alice get over there in time and Edward is saved. The Volturi are amazed to see Bella and to notice that the little human girl is immune to their powers.
Eclipse is a bit boring. At least for me. It’s about Bella’s choices. She realizes that she loves Edward but she also loves Jacob. Despite the fact that the werewolves and the vampires are enemies, they get to fight together against an army of newborn vampires made by Victoria. She’s come back to Forks to kill Bella because Edward killed her mate, James, in the first book, Twilight.
Jacob and Edward fight for Bella’s heart but Jacob is a cheater. Edward is more mature than Jacob and knows that he’s no match for him. The vampire is aware of the fact that if Bella wants to live as a human she will have a future with Jacob, instead of him. But Bella loves Edward more and she’s excited about an endless life as an immortal.
In Eclipse we find out that both Bella and Edward are virgins. (must be a message for teenagers, perhaps?) Bella wants to have sex with her lover but he’s too afraid. He thinks he might lose his control and hurt her, even kill her. She’s too pushy so they get to an agreement: they will “try” to make love but only after they got married. Although she’s afraid of a marriage (yeah, me too!), Bella agrees and they get married.
Breaking Dawn is the most interesting book of all 4. It describes the relation between Bella and Edward, a relation which grows into a more mature relation. It’s more like a grown-ups thing. They get married, they enjoy each others body and Bella gets pregnant with the child of the man she lusts for. It’s a happy story, despite the many challenges they have to face together.
Bella almost dies giving birth to Renesmee, their daughter. Although the vampires wanted Bella to abort the child because they didn’t know what to expect, Bella and Rosalie get together and forbiddes them to touch her belly.
Edward saves Bella and makes her a vampire. They are all stunned to see what an extraordinary immortal she is. Bella is in total control of herself, she’s not craving human blood like any newborn vampire would. She’s just not the tipical newborn they expected her to be.
Bella adores her daughter, and discoveres her talent: the baby could show people what she was thinking by touching them. Everybody is in love with the baby, especially Jacob who gets imprinted with Renesmee. Bella gets angry and tries to kill him when he calles her baby “Nessie”, after the “Loch Ness monster”.
That is probably the funniest part of all! Never mess with an angry mom, right?
Anyhow, after the Volturi finds out about Renesmee they want to distroy them because they think the baby is an immortal child, a very dangerous creature who could expose their kind. But things get sorted out and everyone is safe and they get to live happily ever after.
Breaking Dawn is my favorite book of all 4. It’s the longest but it is the most interesting. If you haven’t read the Twilight Saga yet, go to the nearest book store.
The movie Twilight was a failure. Sorry to say so but although Robert Pattinson plays Edward the movie sucked! They missed out the most important parts of the book, they left out many good lines. Too bad.
I hope they’ll get to do a better job with New Moon.
