Remember TATU?

In 2003 (if my memory is still working properly!) I’ve heard for the first time of T.A.T.U.

The two girls, Iulia Volkova and Lena Katina, had to pretend they were lesbians so people would be appalled by their attitude, protest about the band and thus making it more famous worldwide.
I have to admit, I really loved their music, including the Russian versions. Some of the English songs sound much better in Russian. Take “Not Gonna Get Us” for example. It’s better in Russian “Nas Ne Dagonyat

The idea of the two lesbians girls was Ivan Shapovalov’s. He was the manager of the band since 1999, when Tatu was born!

Meanwhile, things got clearer. Iulia and Lena have made their own families, Iulia had a baby and thus the band had to pause for a while.

The debut album was 200 po vstrecinoi (200 km/h in the Wrong Lane), a great album, by the way!

In 2004 they made a reality show, called: Anatomy of t.A.T.u. Then the girls explained all about the marketing that was behind the band and their sexuality!
Well, you cannot blame the manager for coming up with the gay thing. Iulia and Lena obviously fit together and when people saw them on stage, wearing those skimpy outfits, they couldn’t help but wonder if they were together. Plus, everyone is searching for p0rn on Internet these days. (except for me, of course :P )

So, if you have remembered TATU, let’s listen to one of their greatest success: Nas Ne Dagonyat!
